Lipetsk

Lipetsk is located about 400 km South-East of Moscow in the Central Federal District of Russia, on the banks of the Voronezh River in the Don basin. Lipetsk is the administrative center of Lipetsk Oblast (Region). Its name means Linden City. The city was first mentioned in the 13th century chronicles. On September 16, 1779, Lipetsk was granted town status. Lipetsk is industrial center of the region, its principal industries include ferrous metallurgy, machinery, engines, chemicals, food and clothing. Lipetsk is one of the oldest balneological and mud bath resorts in Russia.
