For many years the entrance to the hotel was closed to the public: the hotel was "the house for the elite". Before the revolution the building served for London's governesses and then for professors staff of Moscow State University who stayed and worked here. After the war, this building became a stiff hotel with the prestigious restaurant for the members of the Soviet Government and obviously, the doors of this building were closed for the rest people. And just at the beginning of the 90-s an Austrian firm turned this house into one of the finest hotels in Moscow which, in fact, became quite a different hotel in terms of equipment and services.
